Sure we all know how hard drives with big capacity became a common household nowadays. But claiming that you got one terabytes worth of hard drive is simply wrong when there only 1020 gigabytes. Read on to get your bragging rights.
You may heard that computers only understand 2 things; yes or no. That is actually the very basic type of value that we will begin with. We call that value a bit.

1 bit 1 byte 1 kilobyte 1 megabyte 1 gigabyte 1 terabyte 1 petabyte 1 exabyte 1 zettabyte 1 yottabyte |
Contains the value of '1' or '0' / yes or no 8 bits 1024 bytes 1024 kilobytes 1024 megabytes 1024 gigabytes 1024 terabytes 1024 petabytes 1024 exabytes 1024 zettabytes |
Why 1024 instead of 1000? This orders of magnitude is kinda different from the kinds of distance (meters) or weight (grams). It's increasing based by the powers of two. For instance, a bit value starts with 20 therefore it can only contain 1 value that is 'yes' or 'no'. Next, a byte value is 23 and a kilobyte is 213 and so on! So simple
... And so you know :D !!!
